Pray for Niger Ramadan 2023

Today's Prayer Fuel

Praise the God Who Is Always With Us

Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Pray for a Nigerien Believer

When “Zibia” recently lost her husband, her grown children decided that it was no longer safe for her to live in her village because of terrorist activity. In the past few months, she has lost her husband, her home, her community, and her livelihood. Now, family members are constantly antagonizing and tormenting her and calling her an infidel for remaining a Christian. One of her sons has been so overwhelmed by the familial taunts that he has abandoned his faith and returned to Islam.

  • Pray that the Lord would bring Zibia comfort in her loneliness, hope in her discouragement, and peace in the midst of persecution.
  • Pray that Zibia would remain steadfast in her faith and that her testimony would lead her son back to Christ.

Cultural Petition

Today, Nigerien Muslims are celebrating the end of the fasting month of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr, which means “The Celebration of Breaking the Fast.”  Most people celebrate with special foods and newly tailored clothing. Communal prayers are a significant part of the Eid, and after the prayers, the feasting and celebrating begins.

  • Pray that those celebrating Eid al-Fitr will see that their righteous acts will never attain God’s favor.
  • Pray that Nigerien Muslims would recognize that the only road to salvation is through accepting the finished work of Christ.

Intercede on Behalf of the Lost

Pray for “Mimi,” a hard-working, devout Muslim woman who is well known for her generosity in her neighborhood.  Mimi is well-educated, wealthy, respected, and well-liked among her neighbors, but at home, she feels lonely and rejected. Mimi’s husband prefers his second wife and her children more than Mimi and spends the majority of his time with her in a separate home across town.  Mimi feels dejected and jealous, but it is culturally unacceptable for her to express her feelings.

  • Pray that Mimi would come to know the God who sees her and calls her by name.
  • Pray that the Lord would reveal her worth and identity in Him and that she would answer His call on her life.
  • Pray that the influence of this well-respected woman would draw others to Jesus Christ and change lives for eternity.

Bold Prayers from the Scriptures

“And he put the wood in order and cut the bull in pieces and laid it on the wood. And he said, “Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.”” 1 Kings 18:33

  • Pray that the Nigerien church would have the boldness of Elijah who called for more water to soak the burnt offering before the eyes of the watching world.
  • Pray that Nigerien Christians would be filled with the same spirit so that they might boldly call upon God’s power to accomplish miracles before the watchful eyes of the people of Niger and all the nations of the earth.

A Testimony from Across the Muslim World

I am a twenty-two-year-old woman and study at the university. Before I was born, my mother dedicated me to an Islamic saint and made a covenant. Every year of my life I was made to go back to where the Islamic saint is buried, cut myself, and do a blood sacrifice. I feel that I have been in spiritual bondage and want to break free.

I had a vision six times in which someone was holding my hand. The man said, “I love you. Follow me.” I wondered if He could be the Messiah. I searched in many places. Finally, I found someone on the internet who explained God’s love to me. Unfortunately, I have been living in much sin and all of my friends are like me. At first, I was in denial that my actions were actually sin, but the Lord convicted me and I spent one night in a prayer of repentance.

I know of many others, like me, living in sin. Please pray that God will convict them of their sins, rescue them, and give them new life. Pray also that I will be completely free in Christ.

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 55.2 days of prayer committed so far.
