Pray for a Nigerien Believer

“Matthew” is a new believer who was recently married to a Muslim woman. Matthew’s family has been extremely oppositional since his conversion and he has experienced tremendous pressure to return to Islam. Likewise, his wife’s family is not pleased that her husband has accepted Christ and has begun to persecute Matthew as well. As a result of the persecution and pressure that Matthew is currently enduring, he is struggling with his faith.

• Pray that his faith would grow during this time of difficulty.
• Pray that he would remain steadfast in the midst of these trials and that his persistent example would lead his wife and family to Christ. 

Cultural Petition

Ramadan is a focused time of drawing closer to Allah and the hunger pangs from fasting serve as reminders of a need for God. Ramadan is a time of “reformation” when Muslims strive to abstain from deceit and sin, as well as a time of “rewards” when they believe they will earn extra merits and favor from Allah. 

• Pray that Nigerien Muslims would be reformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 
• Pray that they would recognize that they cannot earn eternal rewards through their own efforts, but that Christ has already paid their ransom.

Intercede on Behalf of the Lost

When a missionary doctor started volunteering at a local hospital in Niger, “Dr. Remy” was initially very hostile and aggressively asked her, “Why are you even here, Christians hate Muslims, so why are you even here?” But since that time, she has softened towards the missionary and has even begun asking questions about her faith.

• Pray that the Lord would prepare Dr. Remy’s heart to be open and receptive to the Gospel.
• Pray that the missionary doctor would be faithful to boldly proclaim truth into Dr. Remy’s life and that Dr. Remy would be astounded by the peace, hope, and unconditional love that marks her life.

Bold Prayers from the Scriptures

 “So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.” Acts 12:5

• Pray that when the church in Niger is persecuted, and even when followers of Jesus are imprisoned, may the church be drawn into earnest, persevering prayer.
• Ask the Lord Jesus, to deepen the faith and sustain the dependent prayers of the Nigerien church. 

A Testimony from Across the Muslim World

I am Abraham and I grew up in a Muslim family in India. The doctor said the baby inside my pregnant wife would die. Followers of Jesus offered to pray for our unborn child. Jesus miraculously healed our baby. After this, our family began listening to stories about Jesus. Today we passionately make disciples of Jesus among other Muslims in India. As we prepared to baptize other families they shared how because of following Jesus their lives are in springtime. Jesus has healed them of sickness, given them hope, and improved their families. Yet most people groups in India remain unreached by the gospel.

Pray that God’s kingdom comes to Niger and all over the Muslim world.
