Pray for a Nigerien Believer

When “Bouba” and “Beba” accepted Christ a few years ago, they were some of the first Christians in their village. They have experienced tremendous trials over the past years including sickness, losing their house during a flood, and financial difficulties.

Last month, “Bouba” died suddenly, leaving Beba alone to raise her 5 children and provide for their family.

• Pray that the Lord would pour his comfort and peace over Beba’s household as she grieves the loss of her husband. 
• Pray that the Lord would meet Beba’s financial and physical needs and that the small house church in her village would help her during this difficult time.

Cultural Petition

During Ramadan, Nigerien Muslims fast in order to earn favor from Allah in hopes that he might allow them to earn eternal life.

Pray that they will come to know Jesus Christ, who has already paid the price for their sin and who alone can guarantee eternal life.

Intercede on Behalf of the Lost

Four years ago, some Christians visited “Tina’s” village to prayer walk and share the Gospel. Tina welcomed the Christians into her home and enthusiastically asked for prayer. Over the coming months, she continued to invite the Christians into her home to share the Gospel and her grandson accepted Christ and was baptized.

Tina stated that she believed that Jesus was the Messiah, but she was not ready to become a Christian because she feared that when she died, the Muslim villagers would refuse to bury her and would leave her body to rot. Now, her daughter’s family has accepted Christ and her son has professed faith in Jesus.

Pray that Tina would no longer fear the future, but would choose to place her trust in Jesus Christ today.

Bold Prayers from the Scriptures

“So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.” John 16:22 

• Pray that the Lord would write the promise of Christ’s return upon the hearts of Nigerien believers so that they would be filled with the joy of salvation and expectation that no one can take away from them.
• Pray that they would be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and that even in the darkness of persecution, doubt, and fear, may their joy be unshakable. 

A Testimony from Across the Muslim World

Hamza is a 27-year-old man who lives in Punjab. He has always lived his life following Islamic rules closely but never felt satisfied as a follower. He spent a lot of time looking at videos on YouTube and Facebook so he could learn to do better but the more he looked the more he felt restless.

One day he was looking at Facebook and came across content about Jesus’ sacrifice. He had never had an encounter with a Christian before and didn’t know much about the Christian faith. He decided to send a message and connected with a believer. He told the believer that he tries to follow all the rules in Islam but he always feels restless because he doesn’t have any hope he will go to heaven. The Quran doesn’t tell him anything about having the assurance that if he keeps all the rules he will go to heaven. He asked many questions about sacrifice, sacrificing animals, and why Christians don’t perform any sacrifices and came to the realization that Jesus is the only sacrifice he needed. Hamza talked to the believer for about a week and decided his only way to heaven is through Jesus. He put his faith in Jesus alone.
